RFID retail
RFID is an ID identification system which stands for Radio Frequency Identification. The use of rfid system is growing fast. It has major implications for consumers, especially for privacy like retail security.
Its functionality depends on a small chip that is used as a tag. It records data and stores it. Then it can be tagged with all short of things like, merchandise, vehicles, boxes, assets, and even people. Then a reader is used to read or identify radio signals to track the ID tag. Rfid is the technology used in retails industry mostly. For example, rfid reader can be used by a warehouse worker for checking the inventory.
Now rfid systems are comparatively costly, but it is going to be cost effective in near future. AOPL and seeksoft are the most known brands for delivering world class rfid products with a satisfying solution.
Some interesting projects for retail sector are already under way, like “continuous store count”. Continuous stock count can be made, by the rfid system in a store with the help of a continious automatic scan in their warehouses. This is time saving, cost effective and immensely efficient way than checking on inventory shelves by an employee. It is beneficial for shop owners too for better stocking and supply maintaining. It can also be used for retail security, to give continuous notification of security if someone tries to leave without paying for the products. It can be used in product shipping sectors also, to track a product shipping and receiving in every point to save time and labour. It can be used efficiently to reduce errors.
Use of rfid system and products didn’t stop at retail sector. Many other industries like pharmaceutical industry and others are using rfid systems very efficiently to identify fake and detrimental drugs from market and remove them for a safe future.
